While I have enjoyed your commentary on other topics, I have to respectfully disagree on this subject. there is no doubt that Muslims according to Surah 62 are ordered to attend congregational prayer, it's plain and there is no ambiguity. I don't think it's a good idea to encourage Muslims to view Jumuah as an option when Allah, swt,has enjoined that we leave off our business affairs to gather in the remembrance of Him.

Mufti Abu layth appreciation respect n Salam. I ve found u among the v rare learned n open minded scholars. Yes this incident from seerah of the great prophet n the leader of his time has great inspiration message n show high character n wisdom of the beloved Prophet hazart Mohammad. The need is to translate it symbolically to our time's threats n what actions they demands n the unity n high spirit n struggle to overcome. Unfortunately Muslims have followed n interpreted the seerah counter productively in many ways. They have abundant Allaha n Quran. Glorified prophet as divine entity n another source of Deen, many times contradictory to Quran or adding subtracting it's message even. Making Frivolous tales stories n hadiths. Making it obligatory to live as in prophet times instead of understanding n making themselves update with the modern world of knowledge n actions. For example the wars r different now n trench or any other strategy of the past wud not work today. But generally our religious clergy resist condemn new n critical thinking, gaining new knowledge n change.

Those who say visiting the graves is forbidden purposely misquote Quran 9:84 saying "don't offer prayers nor stand over their graves for they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger" since it referred to a rebellious group. If it is forbidden to visit the graves of Muslims who have died then we should not offer the funeral prayers for any deceased Muslim since that is exactly what the verse says. This shows the irrationality of their belief.

Thanks for sharing! Much love and appreciation for you Mufti! May Allah grant your mother the best of the best, and may He bless u and ur family. This dunya seems to be a hell of a ride isnt it? I start to understand your way of thinking more and more now. I tried to find piece in reading about Fiqh, but at the end I just felt more disconnected to our source than ever. If u allow I would like to share a lovely poem by the Poem Yunus Emre that a friend of mine send me when I needed it the most: Those who became complete didn’t live this life in hypocrisy, didn’t learn the meaning of things by reading commentaries. Reality is an ocean; the Law is a ship. Many have never left the ship, never jumped into the sea. They might have come to Worship but they stopped at rituals. They never knew or entered the Inside. Those who think the Four Books were meant to be talked about, who have only read explanations and never entered meaning, are really in sin. Yunus means “true friend” for one whose journey has begun. Until we transform our Names, we haven’t found the Way.

Salaam mufti really interesting. I think your right that there really has to be a lot more understanding of what it actually means when practically everyone who has an experience of Ayahuasca see a feminine deity. I see that we only look at what we call the religion of the mushrik through the lens of post Christian positivism. But when we seriously take onboard the work of Henri Corbin, Bernardo Kastrup Iain McGilchrist then another insight come that not just a obsolete pre rational remnant of human evolution that we tend to view the non Abrahamic religions. So actually even the myths of the Hindus convey truths. Obviously some Oppenheimer Bohm and Einstein serious scientists have taken these things seriously in a way it’s difficult for us Muslims to do so

I don't think AI comes from a place of love, just a desire for profit at the expense of workers again. We have enough homeless to deal with, why do you want more? I don't think it's Godly and honestly I don't know why Muslims love it so much.

No sir, men or women aren't monogamous or polygamous by nature. When you are answering these questions, you cant say "i think", because that's what you think, what you think doesn't mean it's true. We can't say men or women are inherently monogamous or polygamous because this cannot be proven. Throughout history, there were men and women who had multiple partners. The reason why women aren't open about it like the men is due to their modesty and shyness. I dont know what makes men to think that women are "monogamous" by nature, (this isn't true) think to yourself, if this is true, why do you think women are cheating on their husbands and sleeping with other men? Plus, men aren't monogamous by nature. There's no place in the Quran or any Hadith that says the reason why men are allowed to have 4 wives is that he is polygamous by nature, this is utterly an incorrect statement. Even though, if evolutionary biologists claim the idea that men are inclined towards a polygamy behavior, it's just a theory and not a universally accepted fact. So to answer this question, Polygamy (having multiple wives) more precisely, polygyny didn't even come from Islam. It was practiced way before islam, by the Christians, Jews, Hindus and Pagan Arabs. Those days, men had the ability to marry as many women as they could, but they was no any obligations upon them to treat them equally, Islam came forward and put a limit up to 4 wives and no more. The ruling of Polygamy came down for women, this ruling came from Allah SWT to protect women and in favor of women to help divorcees and widows who lost their fathers and husbands during the battle of Uhud. Look at the way how men are twisting the rulings of Islam in their favour??? Men are polygamous by nature?? Not true... Despite all the blessings in heaven, when Adam was lonely, Allah gave him only one woman, not ten...plus, when the society itself was polygamous during the time of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him), he was married only to Mother Khadija, he didn't marry any other woman besides her.... P.S :- Polygamy in Islam is NOT a Sunnah, it's only a Mubah (permissible) Logically, lets consider this situation. One man, 4 wives (if the wives got pregnant we obviously know whos the mother and father of the child) Let's turn around the tables 1 woman, 4 husbands (now we dont know who's the father of the child) We could assume this as a reason as why men are allowed to have 4 wives but not women. We can't derive our own conclusions when it comes to the rulings of Islam, Allah has not even told the reasons for his rulings, but we humans have come across our own explanations for the rulings in Islam. Again, please don't say the men are polygamous and women are monogamous, this is just cultural and this statement is totally incorrect, because the way we view relationships is also based upon our childhood attachments and the environment we grew up in...
